Amapas Launches "Road To Safety" Project This Summer
March, 2025

Improving Safety, One Step at a Time
The Amapas Neighborhood Association (ANA) is excited to announce the start of its Road to Safety project in summer 2025. This important initiative is focused on making the neighborhood safer for both residents and visitors. Following the closure of Calle Santa Barbara due to a landslide in 2023, safety concerns have grown. With more traffic and ongoing development, the risk of accidents has increased. Some of these accidents have been serious, making immediate action a top priority.
New Safety Measures Coming Soon
As part of this project, ANA is working closely with city departments to put several improvements in place. Key plans include:
- Installing traffic-calming devices in four critical locations along Highway 200
- Upgrading street lighting and signage to improve visibility at night
- Rehabilitating the Los Pinos stairs to provide a safer pedestrian connection between Amapas Beach and Los Muertos Beach
These changes are designed to reduce risk, improve walkability, and make the roads and sidewalks safer for everyone.
Preparing for Emergencies
In addition to physical improvements, ANA is teaming up with Public Safety officials and the local university to develop a detailed emergency evacuation plan. This plan will help guide residents and visitors in the event of landslides, storms, or other disruptions. Having a clear strategy will make a big difference when the next emergency occurs.
Your Support Makes It Possible
The Road to Safety project is expected to cost around $1,000,000 MXN pesos, and community support is essential. Donations will help cover materials, labor, and coordination with local agencies. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to a safer and more connected neighborhood.
Stay Connected and Get Involved
This is just the beginning. Updates on construction timelines, funding goals, and volunteer opportunities will be posted regularly on the ANA website and social media channels.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support ANA’s mission to improve life in Amapas. Together, we are building a safer, stronger community.
