City and Amapas Association Plan Neighborhood Improvements
At the request of Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía, a productive meeting took place on Friday, November 28, between City officials and the Amapas Neighborhood Association Board of Directors. The conversation focused on projects that will improve safety, accessibility, and overall quality of life in Amapas. City staff and board members worked together to identify priorities and agree on next steps. The meeting is part of an ongoing effort to keep residents informed and engaged in decisions that affect their neighborhood.
Upcoming Repairs and Safety Projects
Residents can expect to see visible progress soon. The City plans to begin repainting crosswalks during the first week of December, followed by the installation of new speed reducing bumps. Attention to the frequently blocked Callejón de la Igualdad was also discussed, along with ongoing concerns about trash collection in the area. These efforts are intended to improve safety, mobility, and quality of life throughout Amapas and Puerto Vallarta.
Street maintenance remains a priority. Repairs of the many potholes along Calle Hortensias started Saturday, November 29, which will help drivers and make the road safer for everyone. In mid-December, the City also plans to inspect beach access stairs. These inspections are an important part of the broader Emergency Evacuation Plan for Amapas, making sure escape routes are safe and ready if needed.
Rentals and Training Opportunities
The City also shared information about upcoming regulations that will affect Airbnb and other short-term rentals. While details are still being finalized, more information will be shared with Amapas Neighborhood Association members soon. The goal is to keep property owners, residents, and guests informed and prepared for any changes.
In addition, the City announced a free Safety in the Workplace seminar taking place in December. This session will offer useful information for local business owners and employees about maintaining safe, healthy work environments. A more in-depth program is planned for January 2026, giving community members more chances to learn and apply best practices.
Community Partnerships and Appreciation
The Amapas Neighborhood Association expressed sincere appreciation for the support and collaboration of the Civil Protection and Fire Department of Puerto Vallarta, under the leadership of Misael López. The Board also thanked the directors of Infrastructure and Public Works for their important role in addressing maintenance and safety concerns in the region.
These coordinated efforts show a shared commitment to improving daily life in Amapas. With open communication and active participation between residents and local authorities, the community continues to grow stronger, safer, and better prepared for the future.
