Calle Santa Barbara Update
Recent monitoring on April 30, 2026 by ANA, the Save Calle Santa Barbara committee, and City officials found a serious drop in the stability of the Serena development hillside. Earlier reports from engineers and geologists have proven correct. Ongoing erosion has made the area unsafe.
The compacted dirt road is now completely gone due to work on the retaining wall anchors. The final curved section of the road no longer exists. And the retaining wall at Villa Tita is badly damaged and is at risk of collapse. At this time, the ground cannot safely support people or vehicles. This is no longer a simple repair. It is now a major infrastructure issue.
ANA’s continued efforts helped ensure the area was inspected by professionals. Calle Santa Barbara is a public street, so the City is responsible for repairs and costs. ANA can only act as a link between the community and the City. This project is large and will require help from several government agencies, in additional to significant funding.
ANA will share updates as new information becomes available. At this time, ANA is not able to make champion changes to the site or improve access for vehicles or pedestrians.
