Your Amapas Neighborhood Association (ANA) has been incredibly busy over the last two months keeping our neighborhood safe, clean, and connected! If you’ve been walking around lately, you might have noticed the five brand-new pedestrian crosswalks or the newly repaired road grate at the Hortensias-Highway 200 intersection.
We also have a new much-needed new garbage container north of Villa Tizoc thanks to a wonderful donor, and we gave a local real estate trailer a quick facelift by scrubbing away graffiti with help from one of our ardent supporters.
To top it all off, we cleared out clutter with successful electronics recycling drive in June, added over a dozen beautiful new plaques to our community memorial wall, and started a relief drive to send food and disaster supplies to earthquake victims in Venezuela.
We aren’t slowing down anytime soon, and our next big phase is all about tackling traffic and safety. We are teaming up with city authorities to install speed reducers, add new highway safety signs, refresh the paint in no-parking zones, and finally tow away those abandoned vehicles.
Maintenance plans are underway for the Abedul/Amapas pedestrian staircase. This project will focus on structural longevity by upgrading existing signage to a heavier, more durable standard. We will also apply fresh paint to weathered sections of the stairs to improve both visibility and aesthetics.
We are also giving extra attention to resolving ongoing concerns on Calle Santa Barbara. Plus, keep an eye out for our upcoming master social and volunteer calendar, our monthly Second Saturday Cleanups, and a major fundraiser coming up this November.
We truly cannot do any of this without your support, so let’s keep the momentum going! You can help make Amapas an even better place to live by donating, following social media pages for updates, or signing up to volunteer.
